Real Madrid left-back Fran Garcia reflected on the team’s 1-0 defeat in Lille, acknowledging that it was not their best performance.

He admits that while Madrid had some opportunities late in the match, they were unable to capitalise on them. The defeat leaves Real Madrid in a challenging position, but Garcia remained optimistic about bouncing back in their upcoming fixtures.

“We’ve had our chances, but when they don’t want to go in it’s difficult. We have to keep trying and with the work we’ve done so far,” said the defender as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game. It wasn’t our best game, but we have to clear our heads and go out and win another important game for us on Saturday.”

Real Madrid struggled

Garcia admitted that the team struggled to “get into” rhythm throughout the match, making it difficult for them to get fully engaged.

However, he quickly shifted focus towards their next challenge in La Liga against Villarreal, stressing the importance of moving on and preparing mentally for that encounter.

“They are strong at home and in this type of Champions League matches there is a very high level. We have to clear our heads,” he added.

Facing a tough opponent at home, the Champions League loss in Lille proved to be a stern test for Real Madrid. Garcia pointed out the high level of competition in these European matches, where a single moment can change the outcome.

Despite the result, he encouraged his teammates to keep working hard and focus on future successes.

With their minds now set on the upcoming La Liga match against Villarreal, Garcia called for a clear-headed approach. The team knows the importance of securing a win, especially after the disappointment in Europe.
