Real Madrid made easy work of Manchester City in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League and are now through to the quarterfinals where they will face off against Bayern Munich.

While Los Blancos’ attack was undoubtedly sharp against the English side, their defence stood out for allowing the team boasting of Erling Haaland to score just one goal over 180 minutes.

Heading into the quarterfinal, however, they face one of the only teams in world football to have a superior attacking department to even Pep Guardiola’s side, and will thus face a steep challenge.

Rudiger previews the UCL quarterfinal

The Real Madrid defender spoke to the media in a recent interview where he was asked about the team’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

Acknowledging the German club for all their merits this season, Rudiger praised them and spoke highly of what a challenging opposition they will prove to be.

“Bayern? All of us at Madrid are aware that we’ll be facing an absolutely consistent world-class team. It doesn’t get much more challenging than that.”

Highlighting what makes Bayern Munich such a ruthless force to reckon with, the defender continued saying,

“They’re currently the most consistent and best team in Europe alongside Arsenal.”

The player then opened up on the challenge of facing Harry Kane, who is currently on red-hot goalscoring form

“Harry Kane? For me, he’s definitely among the top 3 strikers in the world,” he began.

Elaborating on how Real Madrid can stop the English striker, Rudiger said,

“We can only neutralize him as a team, if that’s even possible over 180 minutes.”
