Rodrygo Goes was one of the most talked-about names in the transfer market this past summer.
Many expected the Brazilian international to leave Real Madrid. The attacker endured a disappointing final few months in the previous season under Carlo Ancelotti and things did not improve once Xabi Alonso took over either.
As such, rumours of a departure were doing the rounds incessantly. Eventually, however, the Brazilian forward chose to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While he is not exactly a permanent starter now, things seem to be improving for the attacker, as he has started two of Real Madrid’s five matches this season ahead of Vinicius Jr.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Rodrygo admitted that he was going through a difficult period towards the end of the last season, without exactly revealing what was happening.

And the forward proceeded to thank his family for supporting him through it, while also expressing gratitude towards Carlo Ancelotti.
“I’m slowly getting back after everything I’ve been through. I went through a very difficult moment at the end of last season,” revealed Rodrygo.
“I want to thank my family for being with me during this time. I also want to thank Ancelotti, because he knows better than anyone what I went through and helped me a lot,” he added.
It must be remembered that Rodrygo missed the last five games of the 2024/25 La Liga season with some physical problem, although it was never clear what the issue was.
Either way, Rodrygo appears to have left the problem behind now and having opted to stay at Real Madrid, the forward is looking forward to recovering his best version under new manager Xabi Alonso.
“I’m not going to dwell on what I went through any longer. I’m back, happier every day and mentally sound, which is the most important thing, and returning to play,” he said.
