This past summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi was linked for a return to Real Madrid once his contract with the capital club expires. However, the Spanish side isn’t putting all their eggs in the Hakimi basket.
In June, The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana revealed that Real Madrid are considering Hakimi as Dani Carvajal’s long-term replacement.
Additionally, the Spanish side see the Moroccan as a strong candidate for their right-back position because he came through their youth system, has a close connection with Kylian Mbappé, and is under contract until 2026.
Nonetheless, Los Blancos have other candidates for Carvajal’s long-term replacement, including Chelsea’s Reece James.
HITC reported on Tuesday that Real Madrid are gearing up to make significant changes to its defense over the next 12 to 18 months. According to the report, Real Madrid are big admirers of James and consider him a potential option for their next right-back.
The information also notes that the 24-year-old must prove his fitness to secure a move to the European champions. Still, James is high on the La Liga club’s list of candidates for the position.
