In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid have identified Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as a target. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Brazilian talent next year.

Murillo’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

The 23-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half after putting in a series of impressive displays for Nottingham in the Premier League this season. Murillo has registered one goal in 13 appearances for his current employers in this campaign so far across all fronts.

The Brazilian defensive ace has given a good account of himself defensively as he has made 13 tackles, 15 blocks, 17 interceptions and 43 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession accurately from the back after completing 82.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the City Ground will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.

What Will Murillo Bring To Real Madrid?

Murillo loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Brazilian sensation has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to snap him up next year.

We can expect Murillo to bring more bite and steel to Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club in the coming years.

At 23, Murillo has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a good option for Los Blancos to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, Alonso has to give him some time to adjust to life in Spain before he can get the best out of the player.
