TalkSport reports that Real Madrid are interested in Unai Emery, who is said to be on their shortlist for next season after Álvaro Arbeloa’s failed season in charge.
The club, presided over by Florentino Pérez, will change head coach after a trophyless year in which early-season expectations were not met. Several names have started to circulate, including José Mourinho.
Emery, formerly of Valencia, is making history with Aston Villa. He has taken Aston Villa back into elite European competition and into the hunt for trophies.
The broadcast featured leading journalists and former Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor, who suggested Emery would not want to leave Aston Villa. Some panellists said the club would face real turmoil if the Basque coach departed.
It remains to be seen whether Madrid move for Emery or opt for another candidate. What is clear is that Arbeloa will not occupy that dugout.
