According to a recent report from Fichajes, Real Madrid have set their sights on Lautaro Rivero, the talented 22-year-old centre-back from River Plate, who has quickly become one of the most promising defenders in South America.
The outlet mentions that the Los Blancos have been following Rivero’s progress for several months and now view him as a serious long-term option to strengthen their defensive line.
With the club planning for the future beyond Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, Rivero has emerged as an appealing candidate who fits Real Madrid’s model of investing in young, high-potential talent.
Having come through River Plate’s youth academy, Rivero gained valuable first-team experience while on loan at Central Cordoba.
His performances since returning have been nothing short of impressive. Not only has he cemented his place in the River Plate starting XI, but he has also earned his first call-up to the Argentine national team.
In Argentina, Rivero is already regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in the league.

River Plate, aware of the growing European interest, acted swiftly to secure his future, extending his contract until 2028.
The club, despite seeing him as a cornerstone for their long-term plans, also recognise that a significant European offer could eventually prove irresistible.
Real Madrid reportedly view Rivero as a modern central defender who is comfortable on the ball, strong in duels, and capable of initiating attacks from the back.
However, Los Blancos are not alone in the chase. Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico de Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the Argentine star.
While River Plate have yet to set a clear asking price, reports suggest that negotiations could be complex, with a high release clause and additional performance-based bonuses likely to be part of any deal.
