With the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup now complete and the knockout rounds about to begin, one statistic stands above the rest for Real Madrid.

No club has seen its players score more goals at the tournament than the Spanish giants.

Across the opening three rounds of matches, Real Madrid players have combined for 11 goals, the highest total of any club represented at the World Cup.

Four players account for the goals

The 11-goal tally is shared among four Real Madrid stars: France captain Kylian Mbappe leads the charts with four goals, along with Brazil superstar Vinicius Jr. who also has netted four times in the competition so far.

Meanwhile, England midfielder Jude Bellingham has found the back of the net on two occasions, including in their most recent game against Panama.

Finally, Arda Guler scored once for Turkiye in their final game of the tournament against co-hosts USA, considering that they crashed out at the group stage.

Real Madrid summer signing Marc Cucurella found the net for Spain against Saudi Arabia, but the goal was officially recorded as an own goal, meaning it is not credited to either the defender or Real Madrid’s total.

Closing in on a club record

The performances have delighted those inside the club, particularly because Real Madrid are now within touching distance of a long-standing World Cup milestone.

Their best-ever total during a World Cup finals tournament came in France 1998, when Real Madrid players collectively scored 12 goals. With the knockout rounds still to come, that record appears well within reach.

As the tournament progresses, Real Madrid will hope more of their players can make decisive attacking contributions.

Golden Boot race heating up

Attention is also beginning to turn towards the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot.

At this stage, Lionel Messi and Mbappe are widely viewed as the leading contenders for the award. However, several challengers remain firmly in contention.

England captain Harry Kane could emerge as a serious rival if his country enjoys a deep run in the competition, while Vinícius also has an opportunity to challenge for the prize should Brazil continue progressing through the knockout rounds.

With many of the tournament favourites still alive, the battle for both the World Cup trophy and the Golden Boot promises to intensify over the coming weeks.
