The ongoing season has raised some concerns at Real Madrid with regard to their squad and the overall balance of the team.
The retirement of Toni Kroos has left a gaping hole in midfield while the defensive department has also underwhelmed, especially in recent weeks.
As such, there may be a need for more reinforcements in the summer beyond the expected signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.
A new midfielder could thus be on the agenda, with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi said to be on Real Madrid’s radars as a possible target.
Now, according to Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Milan News), Real Madrid are also monitoring AC Milan and Netherlands midfield star Tijjani Reijnders.
Having joined the Rossoneri in 2023 from AZ Alkmaar, the 26-year-old has developed nicely and established himself as one of the most reliable players in his position in Serie A.

As such, the Dutchman has caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid keeping tabs on him along with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Given he has been one of the few positives for the Italian giants in what has been a disappointing campaign, offers could arrive for him in the summer.
Despite that, though, Milan expect Reinjders to remain at the club next season. After all, he signed a new contract with the Rossoneri last month, committing himself to the club until 2030 on annual wages worth €3.2 million.
At the moment, Real Madrid’s interest in Reijnders only extends as far as monitoring him in action. Whether it transforms into something substantial in the coming months remains to be seen.
