Real Madrid suffered a major setback today as Eduardo Camavinga was reported to have sustained the ankle injury he had picked up last season.

The midfielder has endured a difficult summer so far and has missed multiple training sessions, including Sunday’s training.

This was followed by widespread reports of him sustaining an ankle injury, which is certain to rule him out of the upcoming friendly against WSG Tirol in Austria.

There are even fears that Camavinga will not be match-ready for Real Madrid’s season opener against Osasuna later this month.

Camavinga ruled out for ten days

Journalist Arancha Rodriguez has now offered a fresh update on Camavinga’s fitness, even giving a potential time horizon for the midfielder’s return.

As per Arancha, the Frenchman has been ruled out for ten days owing to an ankle sprain, meaning he will certainly miss the friendly against Tirol.

As for the opening match against Osasuna, Real Madrid are slated to take on the Pamplona outfit on August 19, which nine days from home.

Considering one or two day of buffer period, it will be surprising to see Camavinga return to full fitness by August 22.

Therefore, there is a chance that the midfielder may indeed miss out on Real Madrid’s opener against Osasuna.

Camavinga, though, is expected to be in contention to feature against Oviedo in the second match on August 24.

It must also be noted that Camavinga may return earlier than expected. But given his poor injury record over the past 12 months, Real Madrid are unlikely to take any unnecessary risks.

Who could feature against Osasuna, however, is new signing Franco Mastantuono, with Xabi Alonso reportedly considering giving the Argentine his debut in the league opener.
