Real Madrid’s injury crisis in the defensive department has sparked a search for reinforcements in the January transfer window.

While names like Aymeric Laporte and Castello Lukeba have been mentioned, former captain and club legend Sergio Ramos has also been heavily linked with a potential return.

After all, the 38-year-old former Spanish international is a free agent after leaving Sevilla in the summer when his contract ran down.

No contacts between Real Madrid and Ramos

Providing an update on the situation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that there have been no contacts between Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos about a possible move amidst the club’s injury crisis.

This update comes amidst reports that Ramos had offered himself to the Merengues only for club president Florentino Perez and CEO Jose Angel Sanchez to shoot him down.

However, Romano states that there has been no contact whatsoever between the veteran defender and the Spanish champions thus far.

The report adds that Ramos, for his part, would be very much open to the idea of returning to the Santiago Bernabeu as he loves Real Madrid and is waiting for the call from the club.

But as things stand, it does not appear like the Spaniard does not feature in Los Blancos’ transfer plans at the moment as they look to bolster the centre-back department.

Carlo Ancelotti has Antonio Rudiger and youngster Raul Asencio as options currently while David Alaba is also expected to be available in a few weeks. And, another centre-back could arrive in the January window.
