According to The Athletic, Real Madrid have explicitly distanced themselves from a summer move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, ruling out any interest in the Spain international.

Earlier today, reports suggested that Los Blancos had changed their stance on a move for the Spaniard after the request from Jose Mourinho, coupled with the player’s exceptional displays at the World Cup.

However, despite recurring media speculation, the message emerging from all administrative levels within the Spanish club is definitive: they have zero intention of initiating negotiations.

Club stance defies squad desires

The concrete stance from the Real Madrid boardroom contrasts sharply with the mood inside the first-team dressing room.

According to sources close to the squad, several senior Real Madrid players have internally discussed the profile of the Manchester City star, openly welcoming the idea of his arrival.

Key dressing room figures have noted how beneficial his signing would be for the team, potentially viewing him as an ideal asset to anchor the team’s midfield following the retirement of Toni Kroos and the departure of Luka Modric.

However, Real Madrid’s hierarchy remains thoroughly unmoved by these internal recommendations.

In fact, the report states that club executives are deeply unhappy that Rodri’s name has been constantly and systematically associated with Real Madrid throughout the current summer window.
