Real Madrid have been very busy during the off-season, already making four new signings with an eye on the next campaign.

However, business is far from being completed at the Santiago Bernabeu as incoming manager Jose Mourinho is targeting more signings, including another centre-back and a new midfielder.

For that to happen, however, Los Blancos first need to make some cuts to their current squad, with some names being identified as candidates for sale.

One of them happens to be Eduardo Camavinga, who is not seen as a key player in Mourinho’s plans for next season.

However, the French international has no intention of leaving the club and believes he can claw his way back into the manager’s scheme of things.

Doors open for Aurelien Tchouameni

Therefore, according to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Real Madrid could now be open to offers for Camavinga’s compatriot Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

The 26-year-old French midfielder has been a permanent fixture in the Los Blancos’ midfield unit in recent years and has proven to be a solid performer despite going through some difficult periods.

He has a contract with Real Madrid until 2028 and is a player who can attract a significant offer in the market this summer.

As such, with room needing to be made for Mourinho’s preferred signings in midfield, Tchouameni might end up being the sacrificial lamb at Real Madrid.

Manchester United interested

As has been widely reported, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United have shown a strong interest in signing Tchouameni.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a replacement for Real Madrid legend Casemiro and see the 26-year-old Frenchman as an ideal fit. His wages would not be an issue for the English heavyweights either.

Meanwhile, as reported earlier this week, Xabi Alonso might also be interested in a reunion with Tchouameni at Chelsea, in case Enzo Fernandez ends up leaving.

So, if Real Madrid do open the doors definitively for the midfielder’s departure, there will be no shortage of takers. The final decision will depend on Mourinho as well as the club’s pursuit of a new midfielder in the coming weeks.
