Since Marc Guehi’s move to Liverpool collapsed at the end of the summer transfer window, the Crystal Palace defender has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs. However it appears a move to Spain is as likely as has been made out.
A deal had been agreed for Guehi to head to Liverpool for just over €30m, but after Palace pulled the plug, the England international decided that he would not be renewing his deal at Selhurst Park. Out of contract next summer, it has made him one of the hottest commodities on the transfer market.
According to a report from Diario AS, a move to Real Madrid, who had been credited by numerous outlets with an interest, is no longer on the table. They say Los Blancos are out of the running for his signature, considering his salary demands too high for them. Recently it was reported that Bayern Munich had met with Guehi’s agent to discuss terms, and they are cited as one of the two sides leading the race for Guehi’s signature along with Liverpool. If neither win it, then the Premier Legaue remains his next most likely destination.

Barcelona have also been cited as one of the sides interested in Guehi, and they, like Real Madrid, have made a habit of pursuing free agent signings of established players. Recent months have seen those links go quiet though, and with Real Madrid and Barcelona having a similar salary structure, if he is too expensive for Los Blancos, it is fair to assume that it would be a stretch for Barcelona. That said, the Blaugrana are arguably in more need of a central defender going forward, with only Pau Cubarsi assured as a long-term starter as things stand.
