One of the seemingly big decisions Real Madrid must make in the summer is the identity of the coach who will take control of the first team ahead of the next season.

After all, the team’s win rate under Alvaro Arbeloa is simply not good enough and the fact that the manager has failed to bring home a trophy will be a key factor.

While it does appear clear that a managerial change is inevitable, Arbeloa has the complete backing of the dressing room and has seen the internal politics drastically reduce on his watch.

The administration is divided

As confirmed by Jorge C Picon in a recent report, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to fire Arbeloa at the end of the season and is firm on his stance that a change is needed.

Some board members, however, believe the current manager should be trusted for longer and given a chance to prove his worth. They are thus pushing for him to stay for next season as well to give him a cushion to structure his rebuild.

There is an internal divide between the board members who are pushing for him to stay and the board member strictly opposed to it – Florentino Perez.

The club president is of the opinion that Real Madrid need an experienced name as the new manager – one who can keep the dressing room under control.

Several names have been discussed including Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino, Lionel Scaloni and Jurgen Klopp.

A final decision, however, will only be made in June after taking into account the managerial profiles who are available, the team’s need and the board’s collective opinion. With the season going trophy-less, Arbeloa’s chances of staying look slim.
