Real Madrid president fires shots at Barcelona over Negreira case – ‘Titles have been stolen from us’ | OneFootball

It is clear that things are not going well at Real Madrid right now, having recently suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Barcelona.

Amid a lack of trophies and dressing room tensions, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has had to conduct a special press conference to dispel rumours about his health.

Perez also announced elections in an attempt to gain a fresh mandate, at a time when his leadership abilities have been questioned.

During the presser, though, Perez did not shy away from referencing Barcelona, once again firing shots at the Catalan club over the Negreira case.

What Perez said about Barcelona and Negreira

The Real Madrid president made a pointed comment on the subject of refereeing and the Negreira case.

“The Real Madrid members are with me in my fight against Negreira and the others. It’s not always Real Madrid that suffers; other teams do too. Barça always benefits,” he said (h/t AS).

The comments from the Real Madrid president come just days after Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona, who have secured the league title.

“Let’s see if UEFA gets involved in this matter, because they will. It’s unacceptable that I’m under suspicion of corruption for over 20 years. Let’s see what happens with UEFA’s legal and sporting investigations,” he added.

“I didn’t come here so that the referees could get rich off Barcelona’s money,” he further stated.

Stating that he and Real Madrid were robbed of several La Liga titles, Perez elaborated:

“We’ve been left empty-handed, and I’ve been here I don’t know how many seasons and I’ve only won seven European Cups and seven league titles , which could have been 14 because they’ve been stolen from me.

“We’ve made a video about the 18 points they’ve taken from us this season. I can’t stay silent about that.”

These statements came during the interaction with the journalists, prior to which, Perez had already addressed the media and made explosive statements on the Negreira case.

‘Three years ago, we learned about the Negreira Case. The biggest scandal in history. They’ve been paying for two decades, but now it’s the same referees for this third decade,” he said.

“We will present a substantial dossier to UEFA so they can tackle this issue at its root and resolve the case for the good of world football.”

Continuing, he added: “Of course, there’s also our perennial enemy, La Liga . We’re going to fight. I’m fighting against everyone. The systemic corruption of the Negreira Case… How can we just forget it?

“We’re preparing a 500-page dossier that I’ll send to UEFA when the competition is over. I’ve already spoken with them. There’s no precedent for this in the history of world football. It’s the biggest corruption case ever.”

The comments are unlikely to go down well at the Camp Nou, where Barcelona have consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to the Negreira case.

In the past, Joan Laporta has responded sharply to any allegations or implications made by Real Madrid over the Negreira case. It will be interesting to see if the Barcelona president-elect does the same this time around.
