Real Madrid Promote Raul Asensio to First Team Ahead of 2025/26

Real Madrid've officially added Raul Asensio to their 1st team squad ahead of the upcoming 2025 /26 season marking major step in the 22 year old defender's career.

Promotion Made Permanent

Asensio was initially promoted from the youth ranks last season. Following string of solid performances, Los Blancos have now formally registered him in the senior squad list.

According to Marca the Spanish defender's expected to switch from his temporary No35 jersey to either No17 or 25.

While his Club World cup performances drew criticism for inconsistency, Asensio openly admitted he "wasn’t at the level required" during the global event.

He also noted the offseason break would be vital to mentally and physically recharge.

Last season Asensio played 57 match across all competitions. Despite not scoring, he registered 2 assists, received 10 yellow cards and was sent off once.
