Real Madrid kept pace with Barcelona at Mestalla, banking points over polish. Álvaro Carreras seized the night from left back with a decisive second-half surge.
Courtois was unworked, Beltrán struck the woodwork. After the restart Carreras surged inside and finished with his right, both his Madrid goals have come against Valencia. Mbappé made it safe on 91 minutes from Brahim’s pass. According to AS, it was more reward than fluency.
On his first league start, David Jiménez began ahead of Trent and Carvajal and acquitted himself. He spurned a gilt-edged chance from Mbappé, shooting at Dimitrievski, and delivered a cross Gonzalo missed by centimetres, while keeping Danjuma quiet.
Asencio read danger cleanly and dominated in the air. Huijsen wobbled early with risky losses, the context and his fitness did not help, but he improved as minutes passed.
Güler was the most creative, finding pockets, threading for Mbappé and going close, yet he was an isolated outlet. Tchouameni excelled defensively, won all three tackles and dominated aerially, but contributed little going forward. Camavinga’s duels shone, his passing lacked bite.
Gonzalo pressed tirelessly and drifted too wide. Valverde returned to midfield, added lung-busting runs and two efforts from range, more power than craft. Brahim went close then set up Mbappé, while Trent returned, Mastantuono featured briefly and Cestero collected late minutes.
