Vinicius Jr. has been in the spotlight in recent days for a situation that is not entirely to his liking – his new status in the Real Madrid setup under Xabi Alonso.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international is no longer a guaranteed starter and has already been left out of the starting XI twice in six games in the new season.

Vinicius is far from pleased the situation and his anger surfaced after his substitution against Espanyol this past weekend.

All of this has been going on with the backdrop of stalled renewal negotiations between the player and the club.

Real Madrid will not change their current offer for Vinicius

Now, according to MARCA, on Monday morning, Vinicius’ agent Frederico Pena met with Jose Angel Sanchez at Valdebebas to once again gauge the reality surrounding the forward.

While some reports refute that the meeting took place, MARCA insists that there were discussions about his situation.

As far as Real Madrid are concerned, Vinicius has been, is, and will continue to be a special player within the squad. The club have consistently supported him and will continue doing so.

However, the stance from the club as far as the renewal is concerned is also firm. Vinicius already knows that there is a renewal offer for his contract on the table but will not undergo any modification in the coming weeks.

There is no cause for alarm given the 20 months the Brazilian still has remaining, but it is true that the situation is uncomfortable, particularly considering that six months ago the agreement was thought to be closed.

Vinicius’ camp has been gunning for a significant improvement on the terms being proposed by Los Blancos, but from the club’s perspective, there will be no changes made.

Precedents

It is easy to recall what happened with players such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Sergio Ramos when they had contract stand-offs at Real Madrid.

The situations are not identical, as Vinicius is in his prime in terms of age, while the aforementioned legends were well into their thirties.

The club recognises this, but also values the importance of maintaining a clear salary hierarchy within the dressing room.
