Dean Huijsen has been one of the rising stars in La Liga this season, with the Real Madrid new signing firmly establishing himself as a first-team regular under new coach Xabi Alonso.

Despite his young age and the pressure of having a hefty price tag, Huijsen has shown a lot of maturity and leadership, thus making him a vital cog in Alonso’s defensive line.

In light of his success at Real Madrid, Huijsen has also become a key player for the Spanish national team, notably starting in the recent win over Bulgaria.

Huijsen’s message to Barcelona fans

Heading into Spain’s next match against Turkey this evening, Huijsen has shared a message has has received from his national teammates.

“In the national team, some tell me that I’ve done well choosing Real Madrid,” the young defender said (h/t Fabrizio Romano).

Huijsen even had a message to the Barcelona players, who currently dominate the Spanish national team. He revealed that the Barça players in the Spain national team camp do tease him, but he had a clear message for them.

“Meanwhile, Barça players tease me, but we’ll talk in El Clásico!” said the Spanish international, who is fast-becoming one of the most talented young centre-backs in Europe.

It appears Huijsen is determined to help Real Madrid turn things around, especially after a disastrous 2023/24 campaign that saw them lose to Barça four consecutive times.

New coach Alonso cannot afford to do the same and therefore, the onus will be on Huijsen to put a halt to Barcelona’s attacking endeavours.

The two Spanish rivals are slated to play against each other for the first time this season in late October and Huijsen will surely be there.
