Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final, and the club said in a statement that it congratulated Spain on a second world title, calling it a historic triumph for Spanish football.

It was the first time the national team had selected no Real Madrid players, with Luis de la Fuente naming a squad without anyone from a club that bills itself as the biggest in the world.
Madrid also highlighted Marc Cucurella, referring to him as their player.
Cucurella has played for Chelsea since 2022 and will only wear Madrid’s shirt once play resumes, following a transfer estimated at 60 million euros.
