Real Madrid schedule first preseason match under Jose Mourinho | OneFootball

Jose Mourinho has been training the available Real Madrid players for some days now, and even the first player who participated in the World Cup, Arda Guler, has also joined up with him at Valdebebas. The new manager has also called up several youth team players to train under him as well.

After Guler’s return, several other players are expected to join the Portuguese trainer in the coming few days. Federico Valverde, whose Uruguay side was also eliminated in the group stage, like Guler’s Turkiye, will be coming back soon, as will be Antonio Rudiger, whose German side was eliminated in the Round of 32.

However, it remains to be seen whether they will be ready and available for the first training match of the preseason, which is scheduled in only a few days’ time. As MARCA has reported, Jose Mourinho will play his first match with Real Madrid against Alcorcon, this Friday, 24 July.

This is going to be a training match, and not a friendly, and thus, will be played behind closed doors. Unlimited substitutions will be allowed, as this will be the first training match after the holidays for players, and the managers will also want to test several of their players and setups.

Alcorcon are also looking to debut in their new season kits, which are expected to be unveiled on Thursday, in this training match against Real Madrid. As is the case with Jose Mourinho, the Alcorcon manager, Fran Justo, will also be overseeing this game as the first of his stint on his team’s bench.

Although it is not going to be a competitive game, it will provide a good opportunity for several Real Madrid youngsters to showcase their talents to Jose Mourinho, and thus make a place for themselves in the coach’s plans for the upcoming season.
