Real Madrid set sights on €25 million-rated French goalkeeper as Thibaut Courtois successor | OneFootball

Real Madrid are staring an extremely important summer transfer window wherein there could be some significant changes made to the squad.

The idea is to sign in at least one new centre-back and a midfielder, while reinforcing both full-back positions also remains on the agenda.

Meanwhile, the goalkeeping position could also be reviewed especially if Andriy Lunin decides to leave in search of regular game-time.

Ewen Jaouen on Real Madrid’s radar

In that regard, Canal+ reports that Real Madrid have set their sights on Stade Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen as a possible target.

The 20-year-old French shot-stopper is considered the long-term successor to Los Blancos’ first-choice in goal, Thibaut Courtois.

Jaouen has been with Reims since 2023, when he joined from Guingamp. The young goalkeeper spent some time away on loan at Rodez AF and USL Dunkerque before breaking into the first-team setup at his parent club in the recently concluded season.

Jaouen finished the 2025/26 campaign with 15 clean sheets from 34 Ligue 2 matches, conceding only 35 goals, even as his team finished in the sixth place in the French second division.

Deal could cost €25 million

As per the report, Jaouen is also attracting strong interest from the Premier League, where Chelsea and Newcastle United are pursuing him.

In fact, the 20-year-old starlet even visited Chelsea facilities, indicating the Blues’ strong interest in his services.

Real Madrid, for their part, are said to view the French youngster as Courtois’ successor.

Considering that his contract with Reims runs until 2029, Jaouen is expected to command a transfer fee of around €25 million.

It seems unlikely that Real Madrid would consider spending such a sum on a relatively unproven youngster when they have similarly talented young shot-stoppers in their ranks like Fran Gonzalez and Javi Navarro, who are both rated highly at Valdebebas.
