Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala suffered a shocking knee injury during his team’s FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final match against Paris Saint-Germain.

The incident happened late in the first half when Musiala clashed with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in a 50-50 challenge. Donnarumma won the ball, but as he turned around, he saw Musiala on the ground in clear agony.

Realising the severity of the injury, the Italian keeper quickly signalled for medical help.

A stretcher was rushed onto the pitch to carry Musiala off, and the replay of the incident was not shown on the big screens at Mercedes-Benz Stadium because of how gruesome it looked.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed after the match that Musiala had been taken straight to the hospital for treatment.

Amidst all this, Musiala’s Germany teammate and Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rudiger, sent him a heartfelt message on social media, wishing him a speedy recovery and letting him know the football community is behind him.

“Comeback stronger, Starboy,” he wrote.

The latest reports on Musiala’s condition reveal that he has broken his left fibula and suffered damage to multiple ligaments in his knee. Doctors expect him to be out of action for four to five months.

In the match itself, PSG managed to win 2-0 despite ending the game with just nine players after late red cards for Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez.

With this victory, PSG booked their place in the semifinals, where they will face Real Madrid. However, Madrid will also be missing a key defender, Dean Huijsen, who was sent off in their match against Borussia Dortmund.
