La Liga giants Real Madrid will be forced to make do without the contributions of attacking star Rodrygo for their upcoming Champions League tie against Benfica.
This comes after the Brazilian was hit with a two-match suspension.
Frontman Rodrygo was shown the first red card of his Real Madrid career in the club’s last outing on the continent.
En route to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Benfica in the final round of league phase fixtures in the Champions League, the 25-year-old was shown two yellow cards in quick succession in injury-time.
As much came owing to a rant directed at the referee.
And on Thursday, Rodrygo and Real Madrid have been made aware of the extent of the punishment handed down to the former.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Real Madrid forward Rodrygo will miss his side’s Champions League play-off games against Benfica after being handed a two-match ban for abusive language.’
