The transformation enjoyed by Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé in one particular area of the game thus far this season has been aptly summed up by a head-turning statistic.
This comes amid confirmation that the Frenchman has won possession in the final third more times than any other player in Europe’s leading leagues in 2025/26.
Frontman Mbappé is for his part of course in the midst of a spectacular opening to the new campaign.
All told, across 10 appearances in all competitions, the 26-year-old has racked up 14 goals and two assists.
And yet, it is another aspect of his game entirely which has turned heads online this week.
Mbappé has of course been praised for his vastly-improved work rate this season, a change sparked by new head coach Xabi Alonso.
So much so that, as revealed by statisticians Sofascore, cited by ‘Madrid Xtra’ on ‘X’:
‘Kylian Mbappé is the player with the most possessions won in the final third (13) in Europe’s top 5 leagues.’
