Real Madrid has lodged a dossier with UEFA on the so-called Negreira case and pressed for swift disciplinary steps. The club said in a statement that it wants the governing body to restart its previously opened investigation without delay.
The dossier cites relevant evidence that, in its view, reinforces indications of prolonged, opaque and unjustified payments by Barcelona to José María Enríquez Negreira, former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees, via various corporate structures.
The submission says the matter represents a systemic risk of the highest gravity to competition integrity, pointing to an alleged framework of undue influence over the refereeing establishment, incompatible with competitive equality, neutrality, impartiality and the unpredictability of results.
It describes the length of the process as unacceptable and argues that continued uncertainty damages the credibility of football, its institutions and its leaders. It calls for a firm, exemplary and immediate response in sporting terms, separate from ongoing court proceedings.
The club asks UEFA, acting within its own autonomous competence, to take appropriate disciplinary and restorative measures to protect integrity, transparency and the proper running of competitions, without replacing state courts or pre-empting any criminal classification.
Madrid remains a private prosecutor in the criminal case and will pursue the actions available at each procedural stage. It reiterates its commitment to defending core sporting values and to ensuring conduct of this nature does not go unpunished.
