One of the many adjustments Xabi Alonso has attempted to bring into Real Madrid is an equitable distribution of minutes without clear favouritism.
Some names like Kylian Mbappe, Arda Guler and Alvaro Carreras have undoubtedly been indispensable to his plans. Most of the remaining players, however, have seen their minutes regulated with even bench starts becoming their new normal.
One such player who was a regular starter for Los Blancos but has seen his minutes tightly regulated now is Vinicius Jr.
As relayed by ESPN in a recent report, Vinicius and his close entourage are somewhat dissatisfied with Xabi Alonso and his decisions regarding the player.
The friction, needless to say, revolves around the player’s limited involvement in games, regular in-game substitutions and even bench starts – something that was uncommon for him in the past.

Over the years, the Brazilian has always been a talisman for the club in attack and it is now clear that his role in the spotlight for Los Blancos is being taken away by Kylian Mbappe.
Now overshadowed, he has become a replaceable element on the field to make way for younger and more dynamic options as games progress.
With Vinicius’ contract renewal saga still ongoing, it remains to be seen if the newfound friction has any part to play in his decision.
After all, the player and Real Madrid have been unable to agree on a salary structure that satisfies all parties and limited game time only gives the winger further reason to look for a move away from the club.
So far this season, he has started six of Real Madrid’s seven La Liga clashes but averages only 72 minutes per game. He has started only one of the team’s two UEFA Champions League match.
