Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has reportedly asked club president Florentino Perez to sanction his departure before the summer transfer window closes.

According to reports from Fichajes, the Brazilian feels sidelined in Xabi Alonso’s plans and is worried about how little playing time he might get this season.

The outlet assures that Rodrygo’s biggest concern is losing momentum at the club level and, as a result, his spot in the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti, now leading the Selecao, has already made it clear to him that without regular minutes, his place in the squad is far from guaranteed. This has only increased the pressure on Rodrygo to make a decisive move about his future.

The warning signs were already visible in Madrid’s La Liga opener. Alonso handed opportunities to young talents like Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo Garcia before turning to Rodrygo.

With Kylian Mbappe, Vinícius Jr., and Brahim Diaz firmly ahead of him, the Brazilian finds himself pushed down the pecking order to the role of sixth attacking option.

Market value and Premier League interest

Despite being tied to Real Madrid until 2028 with a high release clause, Rodrygo’s market situation has shifted.

Once valued at €100 million, the club is now reportedly willing to negotiate for offers in the range of €70–80 million. This drop has already caught the attention of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City.

Arsenal view him as a natural fit to strengthen their attack, while Pep Guardiola believes his versatility would allow him to adapt quickly to English football. However, both clubs must free up salary space before making a formal bid.

Rodrygo himself has grown increasingly frustrated. According to those close to him, he has no intention of spending an entire season as a luxury substitute.

For now, all eyes are on Florentino Perez, who is expected to take a practical approach and listen to serious offers that meet Madrid’s demands.
