The future of Jr. Junior remains a key talking point at Real Madrid as the forward tries to navigate troubled waters.

Indeed, the forward has looked far from his best ever since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, who has taken on the mantle of being Real Madrid’s leader in attack.

It has come to a point where new coach Xabi Alonso has not been shy in benching the Brazilian in certain matches, in order to give chances to other attackers.

In the midst of this uncertainty, Vinicius’ agent recently met Real Madrid to discuss the future of the explosive attacker.

Vinicius wants to renew his contract

According to AS, Vinicius wants to renew his contract. His current deal runs until 2027, but the player has repeatedly told those close to him, and the club itself, that he sees his future in Madrid.

However, the situation remains frozen as of now, with little to no advancements. The story took another twist on Monday morning at Valdebebas.

Talks have been at a standstill since the Club World Cup. Despite Vinicius making a notable effort to lower his demands, Madrid’s response fell short.

The report suggests the gap stands at around 15%, a difference that usually gets resolved in negotiations, but here it has lingered without any movement.

As mentioned earlier, Vinicius’ form has stagnated massively since the arrival of Mbappe, which could be a key reason why Real Madrid are not too keen on meeting his demands.

If anything, it won’t be surprising to see Spanish giants reconsidering the terms of the deal, especially if Vinicius continues to get ignored by coach Alonso.

The Brazilian, meanwhile, has finished 16th in the Ballon d’Or 2025 rankings, ahead of his teammate Jude Bellingham.
