In a breaking update, MARCA reveals that Trent Alexander-Arnold has communicated to Liverpool that he wishes to leave on a free transfer next summer and that he intends to Real Madrid.

This comes as a massive boost to Florentino Perez’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window where reinforcing the right-back position is one of the top priorities.

Los Blancos have been following Alexander-Arnold’s situation carefully in recent months and the fact that his contract is running out in June only furthered their interest in his signing.

After all, he is one of the best in the world in his position.

Where does the deal stand?

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Alexander-Arnold’s intent to join Real Madrid is real and is not a negotiation tactic to improve Liverpool’s offer.

The defender spoke to his friend and compatriot Jude Bellingham and the Real Madrid star’s words on life in Madrid and at the club helped Trent solidify his decision.

Liverpool have now been informed by the player himself that he wishes to leave for Real Madrid. However, they rule out a sale in January and prefer to lose him for free in the summer over for a fee next month.

Both clubs share a good relationship and even discussed the youngster’s situation recently. A few weeks ago, Liverpool asked Real Madrid if their interest in the player was real and the Merengues confirmed the same.

As it stands, Los Blancos are set to land the right-back in June unless something drastically changes.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has made 16 Premier League starts for Liverpool and has racked up four assists in that duration. He averages 1.1 shots and 2.2 key passes per game.
