La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week ramped up efforts to add to the club’s first-team options in the middle of the park.
This comes amid the understanding that Los Blancos are now actively pursuing the signature of Manchester City star and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.
The name of midfielder Rodri has of course reemerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Madrid over recent days. Following a spectacular campaign for the 30-year-old en route to Spain’s triumph at the World Cup, Real Madrid have been tipped to launch an all-out assault on Rodri’s signature.
Florentino Pérez had for some time now been reported to be the one stumbling block towards the Bernabéu brass moving forward with an official approach for the former Atlético man.
But as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then the Spanish patron appears to have changed his tune entirely.
As per a report from market insider Florian Plettenberg of Sky:
‘Real Madrid are working intensively on a move for Rodri. He is now one of Florentino Pérez’s top transfer targets. Man City are hoping to extend Rodri’s contract, but a return to Spain is a concrete option. Manchester City talks with Rodri’s representatives have now started. Real Madrid are willing to offer a contract until 2030.’
