A member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been afforded, for the time being at least, an ongoing place in the club’s first-team setup.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards David Jiménez as the player in question.
The situation at right-back in Real Madrid’s squad has of course proven a major source of concern for several weeks now.
This comes after, first, Trent Alexander-Arnold was hit with a long-term injury setback.
This was then followed this past weekend by Dani Carvajal also being condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines.
As much leaves Los Blancos without a natural senior option at right-back at present.
This situation has opened the door for up-and-coming talent in Spain’s capital to make the step up, with one player in particular having been honed in on by Xabi Alonso and his staff.
As per a report from Marca:
‘Madrid has a problem at right-back, and Xabi Alonso needs solutions for the coming weeks. The main ones involve Asencio and Valverde, but there’s a third option that involves a youth player: David Jiménez. The manager already made the decision to promote David to the first team indefinitely.’
