Real run riot in Arbeloa’s Champions League debut | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid ran riot against Monaco, winning 6-1 in Alvaro Arbeloa’s first Champions League match in charge. 

The 15-time European champions were ahead inside five minutes. Franco Mastantuono’s run down the right set up Federico Valverde, whose cross found Mbappé to slot home.

The French forward then doubled the lead with a close-range finish following a slick move involving Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Jr.

Mastantuono netted his first Champions League goal in the second half, while Vinicius Jr created another before Thilo Kehrer’s own goal made it 4-0.

The Brazil winger capped the rout with a brilliant solo strike for the fifth, and Jude Bellingham added a sixth after Monaco briefly pulled one back through Jordan Teze.

Mbappé’s double takes his tally to 11 goals in this season’s competition, while Real climb to second in the group with 15 points from seven games.
