Real Sociedad ended their first full week of pre-season on Saturday with a behind-closed-doors training match against Ligue 2 side Pau FC.
Although the first friendly of the summer is scheduled for 18 July against Racing in Zubieta, this was used as an early test. According to AS, the squad began pre-season last Sunday with an open session at Zubieta.
The workout lasted about one and a half hours and offered a first run-out against external opposition. There was no information on how the game unfolded, though there were goals and Matarazzo’s players wore training kit.
Injured quintet Odriozola, Balda, Pacheco, Gorrotxategi and Carlos Fernández did not take part. Nor did Sucic, Guedes, Kubo and Oyarzabal, who have yet to rejoin day-to-day work at Zubieta. The captain remains at the World Cup and will play the semi-final against France on Tuesday.
Aramburu, Yangel, Óskarsson and Kita, who linked up on Thursday, also sat out, except the Japanese player who arrived a couple of days earlier. Sanse players Carrera, Beitia, Ochieng and Mikel Rodríguez featured in the run-out.
The team will return to work on Monday.
