Real Sociedad's Mikel Oyarzabal remains on cloud nine in the wake of the club's Copa del Rey success, coming up big for his boyhood club once again earlier today in a 3-3 draw at Rayo Vallecano.

The 29-year-old Eibar native and club academy graduate has led from the front for Txuri-Urdin once again this season, helping club boss Pellegrino Matarazzo achieve historic personal success against Atlético de Madrid.

Oyarzabal was among the goal scorers last Saturday in Sevilla, just as he was again today when his two-goal effort helped keep Real Sociedad in the running for a late-season push up the table.

His brace on either side of the halftime interval saw him climb to 14 goals in 29 La Liga appearances this season for the Basque club, his highest-ever goal tally in blue and white.

And with his place in Luis de la Fuente's Spain XI all but guaranteed this summer at the 2026 World Cup, La Roja will no doubt bank on his goalscoring form carrying over to boost their chances of banking their second World Cup win.
