Real Sociedad looked stuck in summer mode at the Sánchez Pizjuán, a flat outing in which few impressed.
According to AS, Remiro began focused, making a fine save from Ejuke on 16 minutes and dealing calmly with long-range efforts, though he needed treatment around the half-hour and likely could have done more when Alexis scored.
Aramburu battled with the excellent Ejuke, was booked for a fifth time and will miss the Betis game. Jon Martín stood out, dominant in duels and assured in build-up.
Caleta-Car kept it simple, which suited a first half of long shots, but in the second Alexis converted his first opening. Sergio Gómez was tidy without thrust. Gorrotxategi had a poor night and was taken off at half-time.
Turrientes also toiled, was overrun and failed to take control, then went off on 69. Marín returned to the XI in the city of his Copa penalty heroics but was subdued, departing on 57. Soler made little impact.
Barrenetxea was the one bright spark, driving inside and sending an effort across goal just after the restart. Oyarzabal roamed and dropped towards the three-quarter line, yet he largely drifted, and he narrowly failed to turn in an Óskarsson cross early in the second half.
Óskarsson came on at the break, then saw little service and later moved wide after collecting a ball near the area with three minutes left. Kubo made no impact. Herrera and Wesley offered little, the Brazilian logging eight minutes, while Sucic had eight and made a couple of fouls.
