Real Sociedad have moved to secure their Sanse core, renewing 15 prospects on long deals, with Job Ochieng to 2028 and Mikel Rodríguez to 2029 this week.
According to Diario Vasco, Sanse are the only B team in Segunda and are outside the drop zone beyond the season’s midway point, with elevated release clauses set to deter departures.
Rodríguez signed on Tuesday, a necessary step at 23 as he eyes a first-team promotion next season. Ochieng, the Kenya international, agreed terms yesterday and has been in Matarazzo’s plans for weeks.
Others already tied down include Fraga to 2029, Beitia to 2029, Rupérez to 2029, Carrera to 2030, Díaz to 2029 and Astiazaran to 2029. The core group under Jon Ansotegi is now protected, with 15 extensions since January 2025, and they are seen as future successors to Aritz Elustondo, Oyarzabal, Zubeldia and others.
Eight of the 15 have already appeared for the first team, namely Beitia, Balda, Rupérez, Mariezkurrena, Dani Díaz, Gorka Carrera, Ochieng and Lander Astiazaran.
Folgado, Fraga, Carbonell and Ibai Aguirre have been called up but are yet to debut. Some deals were publicised, others less so, including Astiazaran’s to 2029 and those of Ibai Aguirre and Gorka Gorosabel to 2028.
Contract buyout figures are not being disclosed, though Astiazaran’s is 50 million euros and Dani Díaz’s 60 million.
Two cases remain open. Kazunari Kita is on loan from Kyoto Sanga, with a 1.5 million euro option at season’s end that could depend on Segunda survival, while 18-year-old winger Álex Marchal, under contract to 2027, has interest from Athletic.
