Lamine Yamal rescued Barcelona in the dying moments of the match on Tuesday, scoring the equalizing goal against Newcastle, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

The young star did not miss a crucial penalty at the end of the game and reached the milestone of 20 goals in the 2025/26 season.

This feat marks yet another record broken by the Spanish international, as Lamine Yamal, at just 18 years of age, has become the youngest player ever to score 20 goals in a single season for Barcelonas.

To achieve it, the Blaugrana’s No.10 had to dethrone the incomparable Ronaldo Nazário from the podium. The Brazilian great reached the same milestone at the age of 20 years, four months and four days during the 1996/97 campaign.

Javier Saviola struck 20 goals for Barcelona in 2001/02 at the age of 20 years, four months and 16 days, completing the podium in this particular ranking. Josep Escolà (1934/35) and Lionel Messi (2006/07) are the other names in this distinguished group of goalscorers.

Yamal, meanwhile, continues to establish himself as something of a specialist in the art of breaking records. At the beginning of March, the young forward became the youngest player in history to score a hat-trick in La Liga.

So far this season, the La Masia prodigy has been directly involved in 34 goals - scoring 20 and providing 14 assists in 37 appearances - making him one of the most influential players in Hansi Flick’s side.
