Next month, AC Milan and Inter Milan will face off in the Coppa Italia semifinals.

This is not the first time that the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri have met at this stage of the competition.

As recently as during the 2021-22 season, the two city rivals faced off in a two-legged semifinal tie. Inter prevailed 3-0 on aggregate on that occasion.

The anticipation for next month’s Coppa Italia semifinal tie is extremely high.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have already met in three separate derby matches already this season.

These have tended to go the way of Milan so far.

The Rossoneri have avenged their run of six straight derby losses by beating Inter twice consecutively. First in Serie A, and then in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Then in February, Inter snatched a draw late on in the second league meeting of the season.

But the Coppa Italia tie between the two teams will be its own story.

Starting with next week’s first leg.

Milan will nominally be the home team at the San Siro for next Wednesday’s first leg showdown.

And according to the Gazzetta, the Rossoneri have already sold more than 50,000 tickets for the match.
