Sunderland met the Red & White Army this week amid widespread frustration over ticketing.
According to Sunderland Echo, club representatives acknowledged the need to improve the ticketing experience and will contact supporters who reported problems during season-ticket renewals. While 96% renewed for 2026/27, some raised serious concerns about the process and their dealings.
Interim CEO Tom Burwell attended the meeting. Some long-standing season-ticket holders in hospitality were told they could not move back into general admission as prices rose, and that declining corporate seats would put them at the back of a 15,000-strong waiting list.
RAWA had urged a pause to renewals after being approached by fans from across the Stadium of Light. Following Wednesday’s talks, those directly impacted are due to be contacted by 5pm on Tuesday, 12 May with proposed solutions, with further steps planned.
In March, 65 tickets for the Tyne-Wear derby were cancelled over a serious and exceptional case of ticket misuse. Some supporters were acknowledged to have been affected despite no wrongdoing, with action taken against those responsible.
