On-field referee audio could be trialled during Friday’s Ligue 1 matchday 28 meeting between PSG and Toulouse.
Antony Gautier, the FFF’s director of refereeing, confirmed a first test, saying: “We are very happy to offer this innovation, which aims to communicate and make refereeing decisions more educational,” he told Radio France.
The system would allow referees to clarify certain decisions to the public in real time, particularly when those follow a video review.
Officials would be able to explain their decision after checking the pitchside monitor. They could also speak when play has been significantly halted to outline the reasons for their intervention.
The match will be refereed by Eric Wattellier, 38. He also took charge of the reverse fixture on 30 August, which PSG won 6-3 at the Stadium.
The initiative is intended to be rolled out across Ligue 1 from next season.
