Referee of Benfica win accused of favouring Al Nassr of Jorge Jesus | OneFootball

Slavko Vincic, the referee who oversaw Benfica’s Champions League win over Napoli, is under fire in Saudi Arabia after Al Nassr beat Al Ittihad 2-0. The Riyadh club are coached by Jorge Jesus.

According to Glorioso 1904, the UEFA official took charge of Al Nassr’s 2-0 victory over Sérgio Conceição’s Al Ittihad, after which the Jeddah side issued a statement alleging he favoured their rivals.

The statement expressed extreme dissatisfaction with what were described as serious errors that directly influenced the flow and the result of the match.

It alleged that two clear penalties in Al Ittihad’s favour were not awarded, which the club say deprived the team of its legitimate rights and contributed to Al Nassr winning.

The statement added that one incident was obvious on VAR replays and questioned whether the technology was used optimally to correct crucial refereeing decisions. It called on the authorities to review the incidents, take necessary measures and ensure fair, impartial officiating to maintain confidence in the competition and among supporters.
