Spain’s referees’ union AESAF has filed two complaints with the Antiviolencia Commission, one against Real Madrid and its television channel, the other against club president Florentino Pérez. The association said in a statement that certain actions and public content could fuel targeting, hostility and added pressure on match officials.

The move follows last week’s request to the RFEF Competition Committee to open a disciplinary case against Pérez after his press conference and a later interview on La Sexta.

Those remarks were alleged to accuse the refereeing establishment of systemic corruption, theft of titles and illicit enrichment. They included claims that seven league titles were taken during his tenure and references to corruption over two decades, along with an assertion that referees had enriched themselves with Barcelona’s money.

This sits within the Negreira case, which examines Barcelona’s payments over almost two decades to José María Enríquez Negreira, then vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees. So far, the judicial investigation has found no indications that any money reached active referees in that period. Referees have consistently maintained their innocence and their distance from any potential arrangement between Negreira and Barcelona.

The complaint also names Real Madrid TV and the club as owner over the repeated broadcast of material that questions or discredits referees.

The filing arrives during Real Madrid’s electoral process. Florentino Pérez has already declared he will seek re-election, while businessman Enrique Riquelme is still weighing up a run and plans to decide on Saturday, the deadline for nominations.
