Regis Le Bris sets patient Sunderland transfer approach after 5-1 York win | OneFootball

Sunderland opened pre-season with a 5-1 win at York City, and attention now turns to summer recruitment. Regis Le Bris says the club will be patient in what he views as a slow window.

Sunderland signed free agent Thomas Meunier last week. The 34-year-old is on a break after World Cup duty with Belgium and will join his new team-mates in August.

Le Bris said this summer feels different, explaining they needed 14 signings last year but will probably seek six or seven now. He said a stronger base allows a more precise approach.

He noted the market is moving slowly and that waiting for the right options is preferable to rushing decisions. He also admitted he is never relaxed.

The Black Cats are working behind the scenes to add further quality to cope with Premier League and Europa League demands.
