Sunderland return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest tonight at the Stadium of Light, with Régis Le Bris juggling selection calls that could aid a push for a top-half finish and European hopes.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach is likely to pick from the same group that travelled to Aston Villa last Sunday, though he has strong options on the bench should he reshuffle.
In goal, Robin Roefs is enjoying an excellent campaign and has a big part to play again.
Nordi Mukiele has been restored at right back over recent weeks. Le Bris views him as central to Sunderland’s attacking threat at home, so he seems certain to continue.
Dan Ballard was managed cautiously last week but gained minutes at Villa Park. With a full week of training behind him, it would be a major surprise if he did not return to the XI.
Omar Alderete has been outstanding in recent weeks and remains integral in and out of possession. He was withdrawn in the second half at Villa due to illness that affected five or six players, but he should be fit to start.
