Stade de Reims goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen (20) has reached an agreement in principle to join Newcastle United, as per a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Jaouen impressed last season while on loan at USL Dunkerque, almost leading the club to promotion from Ligue 2 and also taking the Northern club to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. He returned to parent club Stade de Reims this summer, following Les Stadistes’ relegation from Ligue 1.
He has been the No.1 throughout the season for Reims, however, the club have not managed to return to France’s top-flight at the first time of asking and Jaouen could now be set for a summer departure. As per Tavolieri, the France youth international has already visited Newcastle’s facilities and reached an agreement in principle to join the Tyneside club.
There, he would compete to be the No.1 for next season. Talks between Newcastle and Reims are ongoing, with the latter demanding a €20m fee.
