Ferran Torres has been going through a rough patch at FC Barcelona in recent weeks, failing to find the back of the net or influence games in a meaningful manner.

It has given way to speculations about his future, considering that the Catalans intend to bring in a top centre-forward in the summer while renewing the contract of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

Dilemma with Ferran

As such, SPORT reports that Barcelona are facing a dilemma with the future of Ferran Torres and whether to sell him or offer him a new contract.

The Spanish forward is under contract until 30 June 2027, and the club’s sporting management, following its policy of not allowing any player to enter the final year of a contract without renewal, will need to make a decision.

At present, that decision remains uncertain and depends on several factors. Ferran enjoyed a strong end to the 2024-25 season, playing a decisive role in Barcelona’s triumph in the Copa del Rey. He finished as the competition’s top scorer.

His performances even led sporting director Deco to suggest during the summer tour that Ferran could become Barcelona’s future No. 9 once Robert Lewandowski moves on.

Ferran has been the preferred starter as the centre-forward this season and has scored 16 goals. However, his form has declined in recent weeks, as he has not found the net since 31 January.

Nevertheless, this dip may have delayed a contract renewal offer. It is well known that Barcelona aim to strengthen the striker position next summer. The outcome of this objective could influence whether a renewal proposal is made.

It will also depend on the decision taken regarding Lewandowski. The Polish forward’s contract expires on 30 June, and his departure had been widely expected. However, Joan Laporta has repeatedly stated that he would like Lewandowski to stay for one more season.

Ferran staying calm

Meanwhile, Ferran remains calm. He aims to rediscover his scoring form during the current break in club football and hopes to score for Spain. He is convinced that once he scores again, more goals will follow.

The forward also feels the trust of Hansi Flick, which he considers the most important factor. For now, he is not considering a future away from the Spotify Camp Nou even though there has been some tentative interest from Atletico Madrid.
