According to La Provence, Rennes as well as an unnamed Premier League club and a Bundesliga side have all expressed interest in the 23-year-old, who is currently with France at the U21 European Championship in Slovakia. Les Bleuets face Denmark in the quarter-finals on Sunday, with Merlin playing a prominent role despite ending the club season as second-choice behind Ulisses Garcia.Previously it was reported that Premier League side Bournemouth were interested in Merlin, before opting to sign Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert for €13.5m. Yet this still may have a domino effect for Marseille, with the Breton club now interested in Quentin Merlin as a replacement. Another Premier League club has now expressed interest in the Frenchman along with a Bundesliga side – as OM look to make a profit on the player they had signed for €10m from Nantes several seasons ago.Merlin has had a mixed season in Ligue 1 under Roberto De Zerbi. The new style of play saw the young Frenchman thrive at times, but paid the price of Marseille moving to a back three and wing-backs in the latter phase of the season. The 23-year-old has however played 27 matches for Les Olympiens, scoring one goal and still registering three assists from left-back / left-wing back this season.GFFN | George Boxall
