Celtic are reportedly yet to meet Paderborn’s valuation for midfielder Mika Baur. The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Scottish Champions but the clubs are yet to reach an agreement over the sale of the German U21 International.
According to reports from Germany, Celtic are yet to meet the valuation of the player and are just €300k off their valuation, which suggests a breakthrough should be attainable.
However, the report states that newly promoted Paderborn are in no rush to sell and would rather lose the player for free next summer than sell him below their valuation.
Celtic supporters had been hoping that Baur would end the wait for a second signing and given the player was keen for the move then it would’ve been straightforward. Although, this story lends itself to the wider narrative around Celtic when it comes to incoming transfers. It could, it is also fair to say, be nothing but the anxiety amongst the support about how Celtic do their business has been bedded in over a number of years.
Hopefully the €300k gap can be filled and Celtic can have a new midfielder to bolster their ranks ahead of the season kicking off a week on Monday.
